AUTOMICA
Automica is a passion project I’ve been developing over the last year, along with a small team of former Pixar TDs/Animators. I am responsible for all creative aspects of the project (writing, concept, design, model, lookdev, lighting, direction etc.) 2D Concept Sketches created by my friends Randy Bishop & David Tenorio.
Automica is envisioned to be an interactive experience, blurring the lines between animated movie and video game - an interactive, animated, swashbuckling, fantasy epic taking on the cosmic questions of creation and consciousness. Automica is set in a fantasy world filled with a seemingly endless autonomous mechanical ecosystem - from mechanical birds, to mechanical horses, all the way to mechanical trees. This story begins in the cozy, idyllic village of Wirewood Oasis where automatons have formed a primitive, simple society - long since forgetting who or what originally created them.
This small community is shaken when one day their source of energy, a mechanical ‘Tree of Life’ begins to malfunction. We follow members of this village as they try to uncover the mystery behind this malfunction, and the deeper truths behind their own existence. Our heroes soon learn that the malfunction is linked to strange happenings in the world outside of their small village, where a corruption has begun to spread and destroy the mechanical ecosystem.
Automica is a sweeping fantasy epic about the enduring battle between the good and evil forces of artificial intelligence, and an emotional, character driven adventure story about the triumph of consciousness - the light in the dark.
